Job Profile:

We are looking for an expert in alumina production processes to address key operational challenges in the Bayer process. This includes developing solutions for recovering low-pressure exhaust steam to improve energy efficiency and implementing effective scale removal strategies for evaporators and heat exchangers. The successful candidate will play a key role in optimizing water and energy use, reducing operational costs, and improving process efficiency.


Job Details:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Low-Pressure Steam Recovery:

    • Develop and implement technologies for the recovery and utilization of low-pressure exhaust steam generated during the Bayer process.

    • Design and optimize systems to capture waste steam, reducing water consumption and heat energy waste.

    • Collaborate with engineers to integrate recovery systems into existing production processes, reducing overall steam energy consumption.

  • Scale Removal and Prevention:

    • Identify and develop cost-effective solutions for suppressing or mitigating scale formation on heat exchangers, evaporators, and piping.

    • Research and implement efficient scale treatment methods to maintain or improve heat transfer efficiency in the Bayer process.

    • Propose and oversee regular maintenance practices to prevent or minimize scale buildup and ensure optimal equipment performance.

  • Process Optimization:

    • Continuously analyze alumina production processes for potential improvements in energy efficiency, resource utilization, and overall cost reduction.

    • Provide technical support and training to production teams on the new technologies and equipment for steam recovery and scale treatment.

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to test and implement innovative solutions.

  • Research and Development:

    • Conduct research into new technologies, materials, or equipment that can improve both steam recovery and scale treatment in alumina production.

    • Stay updated on industry trends and breakthroughs in energy recovery, heat transfer, and process efficiency.

Job Requirements:

  • Educational Background:

    • PhD’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field.

    • Additional certifications in energy efficiency or process optimization are a plus.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in alumina production or related industries, with expertise in the Bayer process.

    • Proven track record in steam recovery systems, heat exchangers, evaporators, and scale management.

    • Familiarity with energy efficiency optimization and reducing thermal waste in industrial processes.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Strong understanding of the Bayer process for alumina production, especially related to steam generation, energy recovery, and heat exchange systems.

    • In-depth knowledge of scale formation, its impacts, and methods for scale treatment and prevention.

    • Experience in designing and implementing industrial-scale recovery systems and scale removal technologies.

  • Problem Solving and Innovation:

    • Ability to think critically and innovate solutions that improve cost-efficiency, energy use, and operational performance.

    • Experience in researching and applying new technologies to industrial processes.

  • Communication Skills:

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively report findings and collaborate with teams.

    • Ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Languages:

    • Proficiency in English is required; additional language skills are a plus.
