Job Description
As a Software developer at Whirlpool, you will be primarily focusing on designing, developing, and maintaining software applications and embedded systems for a wide range of home appliances, including refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, and cooking appliances. You will work closely with product management, software development, quality assurance, and user experience (UX) design, to deliver innovative and high-quality software solutions that satisfy the requirements of the customers and upscale their overall user experience.
As a software developer, you have to
Product Development:
- Drive product enhancements and new product introductions by designing, developing, and troubleshooting moderately complex software programs.
- Translate stakeholder requirements into high-performance software solutions through high-level design and modeling.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure compatibility and influence hardware design for optimal product functionality.
Technical Expertise:
- Establish architectural guidelines, specifications, and technical standards for software development, ensuring project clarity and consistency.
- Champion code quality through the effective utilization of debuggers, emulators, and other validation tools.
- Perform comprehensive V&V (Verification and Validation) across various levels (MIL/SIL/PIL) and participate in algorithm modeling under supervision.
- Leverage expertise in Eclipse & IAR compilers, Dymola, Matlab/Simulink toolchain, and IBM Jazz CLM toolchain to streamline development processes.
Modeling and Simulation:
- Develop realistic dynamic physical system models to accurately represent appliance or motor control behavior.
- Utilize software models for efficient verification and validation of algorithm models across various stages (Model-in-Loop, Software-in-Loop, Processor-in-Loop).
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure software quality by generating detailed test reports and actively resolving reported defects.
Algorithm Development:
- Design and implement robust algorithm models, including state machines, adhering to strict algorithm requirements.
- Generate efficient code from software models for target processors and hardware platforms.
